Requirements
  • Some college plus 1–2 years of sales or marketing-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fluent English proficiency is required.
  • Experience with extranets, request for proposal responses, rate loading, Office 365, and shops.
  • Ability to stand or move frequently within and outside the facility.
  • Ability to carry or lift items weighing up to 25 pounds and handle objects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, employees, and third parties in a manner that reflects positively on the hotel, brand, and company.
  • Reading and writing ability for completing paperwork and management reports, interpreting results, and giving and receiving instructions and training.
  • Mathematical skills including basic math, budgeting, profit and loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities.
  • Ability to travel to workshops, trade shows, conventions, and sales trips.
  • May require a valid driver's license.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
  • Establish a client base through direct outside and inside selling to secure hotel business and meet or exceed room-night sales and revenue goals.
  • Prospect, qualify, and close business with consortia, luxury lifestyle tour operators, wholesalers, and other clients.
  • Promote and educate potential clients about the island destination, activities, and amenities.
  • Achieve assigned personal and team goals.
  • Negotiate guest-room rates, meeting-room rentals, function space, and hotel services within approved booking guidelines.
  • Produce or review sales contracts, rate agreements, and banquet or catering event orders.
  • Handle inquiry calls and provide client proposals in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with hotel departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients.
  • Arrange and conduct special events, site inspections, and off-site presentations for potential clients.
  • Entertain clients in accordance with company and hotel policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain client files and update information daily.
  • Produce monthly sales reports and sales forecasts for the assigned area.
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows and conventions and participate in sales trips to key feeder markets.
  • Seek and share group leads for other sales segments.
  • Follow up with clients during and after departure to ensure satisfaction and secure future bookings.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with hotel departments.
  • Interact with guests, airlines, wholesalers, corporate accounts, travel agencies, advertising agencies, professional organizations, and community groups to generate business and ensure satisfaction.
  • Assist in developing and implementing sales plans and participate in annual budgeting and planning.
  • Serve as manager on duty when required.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • A related degree.
  • Prior hotel sales experience.
  • Languages other than English.
