Requirements
  • Current board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics from the American Board for Certification or the Board of Certification, or a baccalaureate degree in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics and current board eligibility.
  • A valid driver's license and driving record meeting Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain state licensure where required.
  • Thorough understanding of biomechanics, pathomechanics, gait analysis, kinesiology, anatomy and physiology, componentry, medical terminology, and patient-care principles.
  • Ability to assess patient condition and advise physicians on treatment options.
  • Ability to lift patients using biomedical techniques and lift 50 pounds independently.
  • Ability to walk, bend, stand, reach, push wheeled equipment, and perform fine motor tasks throughout the workday.
  • Sufficient visual acuity, speech, and hearing to maintain records and understand and give directions.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with physicians to evaluate patients' needs for prosthetic and/or orthotic services and recommend treatment options.
  • Examine and evaluate patient needs in relation to disease and functional loss.
  • Formulate designs for prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
  • Select materials, take cast measurements, perform model modifications, and prepare layouts.
  • Perform fitting, including static and dynamic alignments.
  • Evaluate devices on patients and adjust them to ensure fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality.
  • Instruct patients in the use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
  • Identify and reconcile issues to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Provide follow-up with patients and physicians.
  • Provide in-service training to physicians and allied health care professionals.
  • Manage materials and apply quality and performance processes to maximize device quality and medical efficacy while balancing costs and operational performance.
  • Meet with physicians, case managers, and referral sources to review services and capabilities and develop referral relationships.
  • Plan and implement strategies to meet revenue targets in coordination with management.
  • Provide detailed clinical notes for patient records.
  • Provide assistance to other clinical staff.
  • Provide information to administrative staff for reimbursement activities.
  • Comply with safety regulations, Medicare and other governmental regulations, bloodborne-pathogen requirements, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements.
  • Perform assigned duties and special projects.
  • Perform on-call or hospital calls and float between Hanger Clinic locations when requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • Candidates certified in one discipline who wish to see patients in that discipline while completing residency in the other discipline.
  • Candidates who are not certified or board eligible but have at least five years of demonstrated experience providing prosthetic and/or orthotic services under a certified clinician's supervision.

Hanger acquires Liberating Technologies to advance prosthetic research and development

Hanger, Inc., a leading orthotic and prosthetic patient care provider, has acquired Liberating Technologies, Inc. (LTI), a research organisation founded in 2000 and previously owned by Coapt. LTI's research team has secured numerous government-funded grants since 2008 to develop next-generation technologies for the orthotic and prosthetic field. LTI will join Hanger Ventures and the Hanger Institute for Clinical Research and Education to drive innovation in clinical care. The team will continue current grant-funded initiatives, including advancing voice-recognition technology for prosthesis control and developing socket cooling systems for residual limb skin health. Hanger acquired Coapt, LTI's previous owner, in 2025. With this acquisition, the complete Coapt portfolio now belongs to Hanger, which operates more than 925 clinic locations across the United States.
