Position Overview
The Director of Government Programs role will lead the government team and is responsible for the P&L owner of our government business segment. This role focuses on DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) contracts today,but will outline strategies to expand beyond DBE services as well. This role will be responsible for the performance, growth, and EBITDA targets of our government business as well as proper contract execution. This individual will report to the Vice President of Contracting and Property Service.
What You’ll Do
- Craft and execute revenue and growth strategies for our government business in CPS
- Define clear objectives, goals, and priorities for the team, ensuring alignment with the overall organizational vision and strategy.
- Develop team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment; provide coaching, feedback, and mentorship to support their professional growth. Ensure proper fit and skill set within government team
- Ensure high quality of government products and services which incorporate ability to scale and expand into new markets while fulling current contract obligations
- Regularly review, pursue, and execute new RFP opportunities and pipeline opportunities with CPS leadership and conduct collaboration between the business and legal with all new RFP opportunities
- Work with the team and marketing to identify and execute B2B2C opportunities for prior DBE customers
- Innovate and refine offerings and pricing strategies to elevate contract position while improving business margin where possible
- Conduct thorough review and analysis of revenue forecasts, cost of goods sold (COGS), and expense categories to maximize profitability.
- Assemble, review, and complete all end of month invoicing and monthly reporting required for government contracts
- Cultivate strong and positive relationships with government entities to ensure strong renewal rates as well as opportunities for new contract business
- Spearhead annual planning efforts, ensuring alignment with overarching business goals and deep understanding of what new growth requires in terms of resources
- Elevate external credibility through strategic initiatives and thought leadership activities.
- Cultivate a pipeline of talent within the organization, identifying individuals for growth opportunities and stretch assignments to bolster their skills and impact on the company’s success.
- Present, as necessary, on DBE DOT topics at live teaching events, networking events, and/or contract opportunity presentations
- Complete other duties and special projects as assignment.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Ability to travel monthly as needed for live events and/or contractor opportunities
- Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in a technical discipline; MBA degree is desired)
- High level of professional maturity and ability to effectively communicate to both executive level and entry level employee
- 8-10 years in sales, sales management and P&L ownership
- 5-6 years of government contract experience and RFP process
- Working knowledge of construction and/or transportation industries a plus
- Thrives in navigating highly ambiguous and complex environments
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically while executing tactically with precision
- Proactive and results-driven, with a passion for innovation and customer value creation
- Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Proven track record in driving sales revenue on a team
- Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing teams on major projects or initiatives
- Experience supporting live or virtual events (preferred)
