Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED and certification and training in diesel engine repair are required.
  • Advanced knowledge of vehicles, their electrical systems, and the mechanisms of gas and diesel engines is required.
  • Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software is required.
  • Comfort using mechanical and electrical power tools is required.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics is required.
  • Interpersonal and effective communication skills are required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair tow trucks, wreckers, and commercial vehicles with diesel engines.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles and replace components as necessary, including the engine, transmission, steering mechanism, and braking system.
  • Develop comprehensive work plans after fully diagnosing vehicle issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks.
  • Maintain accurate records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with team members and customers.
  • Manage time effectively and document information accurately.
  • Maintain a clean work area and perform other assigned duties.
