Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator or equivalent
  • Experience with SQL Server versions 2005, 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, and 2014
  • Experience with installation, configuration and upgrading of SQL Server server software and related products

  • Ability to establish and maintain backup and recovery policies and procedures

  • Experience interfacing with Microsoft for technical support
  • Good understanding of SQL Server database, related utilities and tools
  • Good understanding of the underlying operating system
  • Good knowledge of physical database design
  • Ability to perform both SQL Server and operating system performance tuning and monitoring
  • Knowledge of all SQL Server backup and recovery scenarios
  • Good knowledge of SQL Server security management
  • Good knowledge of how SQL Server acquires and manages resources (locking)

Responsibilities
  • Installation, configuration and upgrading of SQL Server server software and related products.
  • Evaluate SQL Server features and SQL Server related products.
  • Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures.
  • Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges).
  • Perform database tuning and performance monitoring.
  • Perform application tuning and performance monitoring.
  • Setup and maintain documentation and standards.
  • Plan growth and changes (capacity planning).
  • Work as part of a team and provide 7x24 support, when required.
  • Perform general technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams.
  • Interface with Microsoft for technical support.
  • Good understanding of the SQL Server database, related utilities and tools.
  • A good understanding of the underlying operating system.
  • A good knowledge of the physical database design.
