- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of a medical assisting program and clinical externship is required.
- Current Basic Life Support or cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification is required.
- Current certification or registration by the American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologists, National Healthcareer Association, or National Center for Competency Testing is required.
- A minimum of two years of experience as a clinical medical assistant is required.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and office workflow is required.
- Proficiency in specimen collection, medication administration, vital signs, and history taking is required.
- Interpersonal communication, time management, and customer service skills are required.
- The ability to adapt to change and work as part of a team across multiple locations is required.
- Basic computer literacy is required.
- Provide patient care in person, by telephone, and through telehealth under provider supervision.
- Administer medications, treatments, and immunizations and perform point-of-care testing.
- Collect and screen patient histories and communicate findings to providers.
- Document care activities accurately in the medical record.
- Assist with pre-visit preparation, patient outreach, and coordination of preventive services.
- Perform administrative duties involving medical records and patient service tasks.
- Serve as a mentor and informal leader for clinical support staff.
- Adapt to different practice settings and workflows.
- Maintain required certifications and attend ongoing education programs.
- An Associate's degree is preferred.
- Three years of experience as a clinical medical assistant is preferred.
- Experience in expanded roles, such as vaccine coordinator or mentor, is preferred.
- Experience with the Epic electronic medical record system is preferred.
