Requirements
  • Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies, Applied Linguistics, Translation Studies, Education, Digital Humanities, Information Studies, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of language technologies, machine translation, generative artificial intelligence, multilingual communication, or related digital communication technologies is required.
  • Experience supporting academic or applied research projects is required.
  • Familiarity with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods is required.
  • Candidates must have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English.
  • Native-level proficiency in French, both written and spoken, is required.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with research ethics submissions, amendments, renewals, and related documentation.
  • Support the development and implementation of participant recruitment strategies and recruitment materials.
  • Recruit and communicate with research participants.
  • Coordinate research activities, including scheduling interviews, focus groups, training activities, and data collection sessions.
  • Assist in the preparation, administration, and management of surveys, focus groups, interviews, and other data collection instruments.
  • Maintain accurate research records and project documentation in accordance with ethical and institutional requirements.
  • Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans related to the project topic.
  • Assist with quantitative and qualitative data analysis using appropriate research methodologies and software.
  • Contribute to piloting online training materials related to language technology literacy.
  • Prepare research summaries, reports, presentations, knowledge mobilization materials, and project documentation.
  • Support dissemination and knowledge mobilization activities, including conference presentations, stakeholder communications, and project reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Investigator, Academic Associate, and project partners on research-related activities.
  • Participate in regular project meetings and provide progress updates.
  • Perform translation, linguistic revision, and terminology-related tasks directly related to the project when required.
  • Assist with the preparation of conference presentations.
  • Assist with the preparation of scholarly outputs arising from the project when assigned.
  • Represent the project at academic and professional events, including presenting research findings where appropriate.
  • Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience conducting participant recruitment, surveys, interviews, focus groups, or other human-subject research activities is preferred.
  • Experience with qualitative or quantitative data analysis software is preferred.
  • Experience with language technologies, machine translation, generative artificial intelligence tools, or multilingual content creation workflows is preferred.
  • Experience preparing conference presentations, reports, policy briefs, or scholarly publications is preferred.
  • Knowledge of official-language minority communities in Canada is preferred.
  • Prior experience working on funded research projects is preferred.
  • Current enrollment in the Master of Science (Applied) in Applied Digital Communication program at McGill University is preferred.
