Responsible for the instruction of LCV Training and certification to selected drivers as required. The LCV Trainer will be responsible for teaching, coaching and mentoring LCV drivers to evaluate performance and safe operation. 

How You’ll Help

• Act as a trainer, coach and mentor to LCV drivers 
• Teach and instruct candidates on the LCV driver requirements.
• Providing coaching and instruction on the “Rules of the Road” to each Driver candidate ensuring the candidates fully understands the regulatory requirements for documentation required to operate under a Class 1/Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
• Ensure the Driver Candidate can safely and effectively operate LCV sets. 
• Complete Road tests for potential Day & Ross drivers and driver for OO 
• Complete annual permit reviews with LCV drivers 
• Perform DSS functions 
• Promote safety and instill a safety mindset with the Drivers at all times
• Up to 50% travel may be required 
• Other related duties as may be required 

Your Skills & Experience: 

• Minimum Secondary School completion and completion of all required safety related programs
• An alternate suitable combination of education and experience may also be considered. 
• Minimum of 5 years’ driving experience, LCV certified and 1-year as a Driver Instructor in the transportation industry or a combination with a strong safety record. 
• LCV full instructors possess a valid LCV instructor certificate as well as a valid LCV driver certificate for the same carrier.  
• Full instructors can deliver all aspects of driver training and evaluation, including classroom, yard and on-road. 
• All instructors must have prior experience or certification training adults. 
• Full instructors must have at least 10,000 km of provable LCV driving experience. 
• Full instructors must complete at least 1,000 km of LCV driving in the 12 months prior to an LCV instructor certificate being issued. 
• LCV instructor certificates are valid for the carrier named on the certificate and instructors may only deliver training to drivers issued a DIT certificate naming the same carrier. 
• LCV instructor certificates are valid for up to 3 years. 
• All required qualifications, documentation, training, and testing are as set out in the LCV Driver and Instructor Certification Manual. 
• Passionate about trucking and the opportunities the industry and the Company presents
• Safety first attitude
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
• Solid computer skills related to truck systems (i.e: ELD, Peoplenet,etc.)
• Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills acting as a coach, teacher, mentor
• Attention to detail
• Knowledgeable in federal DOT regulations
• English language skills required; French would be an asset
