- Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene.
- Conduct checks and remove fire hazards found on the premises.
- Test fire safety systems, ensure they are operating properly, and oversee system maintenance.
- Prepare and formulate a hotel fire emergency plan.
- Organize regular fire drills and ensure hotel staff understand all means of escape in the event of fire.
- Evaluate evacuation procedures.
- Educate employees on establishing a fire-safe environment.
- Train employees in basic firefighting and rescue and ensure that sufficient qualified first aiders are available in the hotel.
- Establish a fire safety committee comprising suitable staff from various departments.
- Prepare and formulate fire safety guidebooks for the hotel.
- Enforce fire safety rules stipulated in the fire emergency plan.
- Report to management on the hotel's fire safety.
- Liaise and coordinate with the Singapore Civil Defence Force on fire safety matters and requirements.
- Ensure that occupancy in each part of the hotel does not exceed the authorized maximum for which means of escape have been provided under the fire code.
- Supervise firefighting and evacuation during fires or other emergencies.
- Keep the Director of Security updated on security matters affecting the hotel and department.
- Train and appoint a responsible person to assume duties during the officer's absence.
- Perform other reasonable duties assigned by hotel management.
