Company Shop Group redistributes surplus stock in the UK to prevent waste. It handles all kinds of surplus items that can be eaten, used, or worn, acting as a distributor that connects surplus from suppliers with buyers such as retailers, wholesalers, or charities. Its product works by sourcing excess inventory, sorting and channeling it to intended buyers to extend product life and reduce disposal. The company differentiates itself by being the UK’s leading, broad-spectrum surplus redistributor across multiple product types and by emphasizing commercial, social, and environmental returns, not just profit. Its goal is to create a world where no surplus product goes to waste, turning unused inventory into value and positive impact.

What believers are saying

  • March 2025 Pricer rollout cut labor hours and improved productivity 5% across stores.
  • April 2026 impact report showed 47,000 tonnes redistributed, £51 million paid partners, and £137 million member savings.
  • May 2026 frozen redistribution centre expands capacity and broadens surplus capture beyond ambient and chilled goods.

What critics are saying

  • Reliance on supplier surplus stays existential if retailers internalize clearance and shrink volumes by 2027.
  • May 2026 frozen centre adds execution risk; underfilled capacity burns capital and raises fixed costs.
  • Dynamic pricing and refurbishment demand store uptime; rollout failures erode member trust and margin.

What makes Company Shop Group unique

  • May 2026: 1 billion items redistributed through 800-plus brand partnerships.
  • Company Shop’s membership-only surplus supermarkets create a protected channel for discounted branded goods.
  • Company Shop runs both retail stores and Community Shop social enterprises, spanning commerce and social impact.
