Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or one year of experience in a clinical setting is required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of the hire date.
  • Completion of healthcare education coursework is preferred.
  • One year of healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Ability to use and care for printers, embossers, computers, and other equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, and walk during an 8–12-hour shift and exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Ability to work around biohazards and infectious diseases and with hands in water.
  • Ability to work protracted or irregular hours and potentially travel between facilities.
Responsibilities
  • Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, obtain initial information and vital signs, and prepare patients for physician visits.
  • Prepare exam rooms by maintaining cleanliness and ensuring supplies are available.
  • Assist with or perform examinations, tests, and procedures.
  • Schedule appointments and arrange referral contacts as needed.
  • Assist providers during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Educate patients about follow-up expectations.
  • Maintain required quality-control testing logs.
  • Ensure medical equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Assist patients with completing medical documentation.
  • Perform office administrative tasks, including answering phones, taking messages, copying, printing, data entry, depositing cash, and other closing duties.
