Requirements
  • Previous experience with computer registration and a registration scheduling system.
  • General understanding of medical terminology.
  • Customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Ability to travel to off-site physician practices.
  • At least one year of recent experience within the past two years registering patients in a hospital or clinic, working as a Medical Assistant, or working in medical billing.
  • General knowledge of International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision and Current Procedural Terminology codes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to interpret medical insurance plans and make accurate coverage determinations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the health system.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain all necessary authorizations in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Verify eligibility and obtain benefit information.
  • Generate letters for authorizations.
  • Respond to Member Services and Call Center inquiries.
  • Resolve identified authorization issues.
  • Use a team-based approach to deliver patient care services.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission standards.
  • Experience with Epic.
  • Demonstrated experience with the authorization process and surgical scheduling.
  • Bilingual ability in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese.
