Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
  • At least 8 years of experience delivering electrical substations, transmission, or power infrastructure projects in an owner representative, utility, or program management capacity.
  • Experience overseeing engineering, procurement, and construction contractors on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of substation design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Strong working knowledge of utility coordination and interconnection processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction contract structures, change management, and risk allocation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex schedules, budgets, and multi-party stakeholder environments.

Responsibilities
  • Lead delivery of a data center substation project and oversee a single engineering, procurement, and construction contractor delivering the full project scope.
  • Provide leadership across design, preconstruction, and construction phases while ensuring the contractor meets schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives.
  • Act as the client’s primary representative to the data center developer and the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor.
  • Oversee conceptual and detailed substation design, engineering reviews and approvals, permitting, and utility coordination.
  • Lead design review meetings and ensure alignment with data center requirements, utility interconnection standards, and regulatory and environmental constraints.
  • Validate project scope, schedule, and cost estimates.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies early in the project lifecycle.
  • Support contract finalization and execution with the engineering, procurement, and construction firm.
  • Serve as the onsite project lead representing the client during construction.
  • Manage and oversee contractor performance across all construction activities.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to project schedules and milestones, budgets and cost controls, quality standards and specifications, and safety requirements and compliance.
  • Lead weekly and monthly progress meetings with stakeholders.
  • Review and approve submittals, requests for information, change orders, claims, progress reports, and invoices.
  • Coordinate with utility providers, local authorities and inspectors, and the data center development team.
  • Ensure timely commissioning, testing, and energization of the substation.
  • Drive issue resolution and maintain project momentum.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting data center, hyperscale, or mission-critical power infrastructure is strongly preferred.
