The US Direct business, consisting of platforms such as Fidelity, Schwab and Robinhood, is one of the largest and fastest growing wealth channels today. Driven by the convergence of several factors including no trading fees for stocks and ETFs, the boom of new investors, platform and app innovation, and pop culture engagement, this channel is critical to BlackRock’s mission of helping more and more people experience financial wellbeing. With the evolving landscape and growing opportunity in this channel, the BlackRock US Direct business is at the forefront of change.
We are looking for a Direct Platform Strategy to help drive our mission. This role is supports US Direct business by collaborating closely with leadership, internal and external stakeholders. The aim is to shape both the immediate and long-term strategy, support business priorities, and identify opportunities for growth and partnerships. The ideal candidate will be an analytical thinker and a self-starter, adept at interpreting complex data sets while also taking the lead on significant business initiatives and special projects.
Responsibilities
Strategy: support and evolve the US Direct Strategy
- Monitor and distil key industry and competitor trends, producing client-facing materials to share our industry perspectives
- Craft strategy presentations for senior leadership, grounded in industry research, data analysis, and in-house expertise, iterative to feedback and common questions
- Drive strategic projects, provide project management oversight for priority initiatives
Partnerships: advance new and existing partnership impact
- Develop and refine our digital partnerships proposition, to bring the best of BlackRock’s capabilities to our clients, including establishing and managing a partnership tiering model
- Maintain partnership pipeline – understand latest developments with prospects, and actions required to cement new partnerships – and oversee partnerships renewals process.
- Organize internal reviews of partnerships to discuss their performance, identify further areas of collaboration, identify overarching trends etc
- Generate insights on partnership performance, focusing on flows, economic returns; and collaborate with Business Development and Partnership Activations teams to optimize
- Develop and maintain projection models for channel, platform, partnership, activation, and ROI growth.
Business Management: function reporting and governance
- Chair the US Direct SteerCo and partner to ensure initiatives drive to completion
- Deliver regular and ad-hoc updates to senior leadership on the Digital Wealth business, including progress, challenges, and priorities.
- Develop quarterly reports to highlight key achievements for the business generally, and performance of our client partnerships specifically
- Refine self-service dashboards for access to partnerships data and channel performance
- Monitor the partnership budget in collaboration with the Finance team
- Lead annual planning, budget and resourcing planning, and manage quarterly reviews on progress
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrate experience within a strategy-focused or similar role, either in-house or with a management consultancy.
- Knowledge of the Retail investing landscape (FinTechs, D2C platforms etc) extremely desirable.
- Exceptional proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, capable of producing high-quality presentations with compelling narratives and synthesizing large data sets for insightful analysis.
- Advanced modeling capabilities and analytics skills, with proficiency in Tableau highly regarded.
- Robust project management skills, evidenced by a track record of successful project delivery.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders, including senior management, and to ask incisive questions that drive projects forward.
- A creative and intellectually curious mindset, with a strong sense of ownership and a self-starter attitude, consistently seeking to exceed expectations and deliver meaningful impact.
- SQL proficiency is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate’s ability to manage and analyze data effectively.
For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $137,500 - $194,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
