Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience designing for product experiences, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing designers.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end design processes as well as examples that demonstrate strong outcomes from your design leadership.
  • Proficiency in modern design tools (Figma a must) and prototyping software.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of product designers, fostering a culture of deep thinking, innovation and collaboration.
  • Define and drive the design vision in alignment with company objectives, ensuring our work is both impactful and deeply user-centered.
  • Lead design strategy and guide execution across a range of projects, focusing on our most complex feature sets that merge hardware with data-driven intelligence.
  • Ensure the team delivers high-quality, impactful design solutions that sweat the details.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, UXR, and Analytics teams to align design goals with business and user needs.
  • Advocate for design thinking across the organization and drive alignment on design approaches.
  • Optimize workflows and design operations to increase efficiency and impact.
  • Champion user research and data-driven decision-making to inform design solutions, ensuring we are always putting our users first.
  • Advocate for accessibility and inclusivity in design, making sure our products serve and uplift a diverse range of users.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and career development support to the team as well as hiring top design talent, ensuring a thriving and motivated team culture.
  • Oversee contributions to the company’s design system, standardizing cross-functional workflows and ensuring consistency across products.

Echelon Fitness is rolling out a generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) assistant for the users of its fitness equipment that adds a unique personalization capability: You can “talk” to a chatbot to make changes to your custom workout plan. See too many 45-minute workouts in the schedule? Audibly tell the AI to swap those out with shorter regimens, just like one would speak to ChatGPT. Going on a business trip? Tell the AI to only schedule exercises that don’t require gym equipment for the days you’re out of town. The launch comes at a time of increasing interest in AI-powered fitness capabilities, such as those offered by Peloton, Google Coach, Strava and others. While many fitness companies or apps use AI to customize workouts for the individual, most don’t offer a voice conversational AI
