Will AI agents replace junior consultants? AI agents will replace many junior consultant tasks, but not the junior consultants themselves. According to the Harvard Business Review, AI is changing the structure of consulting firms by automating junior consultant tasks. The work of research, data gathering, and drafting is being absorbed by agents, which changes what entry-level roles look like rather than eliminating them outright. The evidence is in the hiring numbers. Entry-level postings in law, consulting, and investment banking fell 35% since 2023, according to TechTimes. That is not a small blip. It is a structural shift in how firms staff the bottom of the pyramid. The firms that adapt will run leaner entry-level teams and invest the savings in senior judgment and client work. What tasks can AI agents do in consulting? AI agents can handle the research, data gathering, and drafting that used to fill a junior consultant's day. According to MindStudio, AI agents are being used to automate these exact tasks in professional services. The tools are already in production at the biggest firms, and they are good enough to change staffing decisions. McKinsey's internal AI tool, Lilli, is used by roughly 72% of all McKinsey consultants, about 7,000 people, according to CaseInterviewHub. That is not a pilot. It is the operating system for a large share of the firm's knowledge work. BCG and Bain are running similar internal AI efforts, as reported in a Medium analysis of how AI is redefining strategy consulting. The pattern is consistent across the top firms. How are consulting firms like McKinsey, BCG, and Bain using AI agents? McKinsey, BCG, and Bain are using AI agents to automate research, data gathering, and drafting, freeing senior consultants for judgment and client work. McKinsey built Lilli, its internal AI tool, and it is now used by roughly 72% of consultants, according to CaseInterviewHub. BCG and Bain are pursuing similar internal AI initiatives, as reported in a Medium analysis of how AI is redefining strategy consulting. The firms are also cutting headcount as the automation takes hold. McKinsey cut 5,000 jobs, according to CaseInterviewHub. The cuts are not a secret. They are the visible cost of the transition. The firms are betting that AI agents can carry the analytical load that used to require a large junior bench. Beyond the big three, the enterprise AI agent market is full of tools built for this exact work. Ema, Microsoft Copilot, Google Vertex AI, IBM Watsonx, and Automation Anywhere are all listed among the best enterprise AI agents for consulting firms, according to Ema's own analysis. Rasa and Sierra also appear on the best-for-enterprise lists, per Rasa's blog. These are the platforms firms are evaluating to run their research and drafting. What do AI agents mean for junior consultants? AI agents mean junior consultants will spend less time on research and drafting and more time on client interaction, synthesis, and judgment. The role is being redesigned around the agent, not replaced by it. According to the Harvard Business Review, AI is changing the structure of consulting firms, and that change runs through the entry level. The anxiety is real. Management consultants openly discuss feeling their jobs are at risk from AI, as seen in a Reddit thread on the topic. The fear is understandable when entry-level postings are down 35% since 2023, per TechTimes. But the firms that cut the most junior roles are the same firms investing in AI tools, which means the remaining junior roles will be different, not gone. How should consulting firms adapt to AI agents? Consulting firms should restructure their talent model around AI agents, shifting junior staff from producing analysis to interpreting it for clients. According to the Harvard Business Review, AI is changing the structure of consulting firms, and the firms that adapt will be the ones that redefine the junior role rather than defend the old one. The upskilling challenge is the bottleneck. KPMG, one of the Big Four, is leading on AI workforce development, according to Business Insider. The firm is investing in training its people to work alongside AI agents. That is the model. Hire fewer juniors, train the ones you keep to run the agents and add the judgment the agents cannot. * Redefine the junior role around agent supervision and client interpretation. * Invest in upskilling so juniors learn to run AI tools like Lilli, Copilot, or Vertex AI. * Shift the entry-level hiring bar toward communication and judgment, not just analytical grind. * Keep human review on everything client-facing, because the agent drafts but the firm owns the relationship. How can junior consultants stay relevant with AI? Junior consultants stay relevant by building the skills AI agents do not have: client relationship management, synthesis, and judgment. According to BCG, 50% to 55% of jobs in the US will be reshaped by AI over the next two to three years, not replaced. The consultants who thrive will be the ones who can take an agent's output and turn it into a recommendation a client trusts. The practical path is to become the person who runs the agent and checks its work. Learn the tools your firm uses, whether that is Lilli at McKinsey or Microsoft Copilot at a smaller firm. Then focus on the parts of the job the agent cannot do: reading the client, framing the problem, and owning the relationship. Those skills are exactly what the Harvard Business Review says AI is not replacing. Client Loyalty Gap Audit See where your firm's growth work is leaking and what an AI agent system could recover. It takes a few minutes and costs nothing. What NorthSignal believe The firms that win with AI agents will be the ones that keep human review on everything client-facing. The agent drafts. The firm owns the relationship. That is the operating standard NorthSignal build to. If you are deciding how AI agents fit your firm's staffing and growth model, the Growth Audit Call is a practical place to start. It maps your pipeline, your delivery bottlenecks, and where an agent system would create the most leverage. No pitch decks, no jargon. Growth Audit Call Book a free call to discuss how a custom agentic growth operator fits your firm and what it should return. Key takeaways * AI agents will replace many junior consultant tasks like research, data gathering, and drafting, but they will not replace the judgment and client relationship skills that define consulting. * According to the Harvard Business Review, AI is changing the structure of consulting firms by automating junior consultant tasks. * Entry-level postings in law, consulting, and investment banking fell 35% since 2023, according to TechTimes.
Government of Gujarat and Automation Anywhere partner to democratize access to AI and build AI capabilities across government, education, and industry. Aug 18, 2026 Automation Anywhere, a leader in Agentic Process Automation (APA), and the Government of Gujarat today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to expand AI skills and knowledge across the state. AI is becoming part of how governments deliver services, how businesses operate, and what skills people need to succeed. The decisions made today about who has access to AI knowledge and practical experience will shape economic opportunities for years to come. Preparing citizens for that future is a shared responsibility - one that requires government, education, and industry to work together, while ensuring AI sovereignty remains central to how the technology is adopted and scaled. That means building practical AI skills alongside the institutional capabilities needed to govern how AI operates across data, systems, and workflows. Across India, Automation Anywhere has invested in partnerships that help Indians build practical AI and automation skills - from working with NxtWave to provide more than 100,000 students with enterprise AI and automation training, to supporting AI Kiran's goal of preparing one million people, with a focus on women and youth, for AI careers by 2030. The partnership with Gujarat extends that commitment by bringing together government, academia, startups, and industry to help prepare students, public servants, entrepreneurs, and professionals for an AI-powered future. "Many organizations are beyond experimenting with AI and are now focused on using it to create real value," said Mihir Shukla, CEO and Co-founder of Automation Anywhere. "In Gujarat, we have a government that understands the answer isn't technology alone - it requires people who know how to use AI, leaders who know how to govern it, and institutions ready to bring all of it together. That's what this partnership is built to do." Under the agreement, the parties will collaborate on training programs, workshops, bootcamps and certification-oriented learning, bringing together government, academia, startups and industry across Gujarat. "Our vision is to ensure Gujarat remains at the forefront of innovation," said Shri Arjunbhai Modhwadia, Hon'ble Minister, Science and Technology Government of Gujarat, under the leadership of whom this initiative is happening. "This partnership reflects our commitment to investing in people and creating new opportunities for students, professionals, startups and public servants. Together, we are building the capabilities that will support better public services, continued economic growth, and Gujarat's long-term future." The partnership is intended to help ensure that AI adoption in Gujarat under the vision of Hon'ble CM Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel and Hon'ble Deputy CM Shri Harshbhai Sanghvi, is not only broader, but more responsible, more locally governed, and more capable of delivering meaningful outcomes for citizens, businesses, and institutions. Education that keeps pace with industry: ASM Group of Institutes marks a milestone year with national recognition and a growing Technical Campus. 0 4 minutes read Across management, commerce, IT and engineering education, ASM Group of Institutes' campuses continue to attract students through industry-linked programs, global exposure and consistent placement outcomes - a year that also saw the Group named Pune's Best Management Institute and the completion of its new AI-powered technical campus's first full year. Pune, (Maharashtra) [India]: Every admission season brings the same question to a student's mind: which institute will actually prepare them for the working world, and not just hand them a degree? For thousands of students in and around Pune, that answer has increasingly pointed to ASM Group of Institutes, a Pimpri-Chinchwad-based education group that has spent over four decades building campuses around a simple idea: classrooms should mirror the industries students are headed into. That approach was recently validated at a national level: ASM was named "Pune's Best Management Institute" at the Navbharat Education Excellence Awards 2025, recognition for institutions delivering future-ready education aligned with real industry needs - a fitting marker as the Group enters its 43rd year. Established in 1983 under the aegis of the Audyogik Shikshan Mandal, ASM Group of Institutes has grown from a single management institute into a diversified education group with 12+ institutes across campuses in Pune, spanning study levels from kindergarten through doctoral research. The group is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University and holds AICTE approval, with several of its programs also carrying NAAC accreditation. Over four decades, ASM has built a track record that includes several recognitions as a top-ranked B-school in Pune, an alumni base of over 75,000 professionals across 60+ countries, working across MNCs, Indian enterprises and startups, and placement partnerships with 350+ recruiters spanning IT, financial services, consulting, manufacturing, BFSI, analytics, FMCG, healthcare and emerging digital domains. At the heart of the Group is ASM's Institute of Business Management and Research (IBMR), the flagship institute from which ASM's journey began in 1983. IBMR offers AICTE-approved PGDM programs and has been among the first institutes nationally to introduce Artificial Intelligence as a second PGDM specialization, giving students the option to pair core management disciplines with AI-driven decision-making, analytics, automation and digital intelligence - a marker of ASM's early and sustained embrace of AI in management education, since extended across the Group's other institutes as well. ASM's Institute of International Business and Research (IIBR) concentrates on AICTE-approved PGDM programs across marketing, finance, human resources, pharma management and real estate marketing, with curriculum that draws on AI-linked coursework and industry certifications to give management aspirants a head start before they graduate. The institute offers paid internships, industry certifications,a focus on global business education, applied research and industry-aligned postgraduate programs. ASM's Institute of Commerce, Science and Information Technology (CSIT), affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, is among top colleges in PCMC, and is built for students choosing commerce, science and technology streams, offering programs from BBA and B.Com to B.Sc. degrees in AI & ML, cyber security and data science, giving undergraduates a foundation that can pivot in several technical or business directions later. ASM's Institute of Professional Studies (IPS), a dedicated MBA campus offering a full-time, two-year program affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University and approved by AICTE, where faculty drawn from both industry and academia, paired with an alumni network spread across more than a thousand global careers, anchor its reputation among Pune's management colleges. The Group's newest addition, ASM's NextGen Technical Campus in Talegaon, Pune, spread across a 15-acre, AI-powered campus is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University and approved by AICTE, offers B.E. programs in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, and Electronics & Computer Engineering, alongside BCA and MCA programs - built around smart classrooms, advanced labs and a digital-first learning environment designed for Industry 4.0. More details are available at asmnext.edu.in. What ties the campuses together is a shared emphasis on placement support, live industry projects, international academic tie-ups and, more recently, AI-integrated learning modules rolled out across programs. ASM has partnered with globally respected organisations including Nasscom, Harvard Business Publishing, Microsoft, AWS Educate, Automation Anywhere, SAP& more, partnerships that actively shape curriculum design, certifications and experiential learning rather than serving as brochure logos. The group counts alumni in leadership roles across sectors including manufacturing, IT, finance, banking, agritech, and healthcare, and continues to work with top recruiters and academic partners in India and abroad, including recently signed MoUs with South Asian universities for student exchange and joint research. Speaking on the group's continued appeal among students, Dr Sandeep Pachpande, Chairman, ASM Group of Institutes, said: "Every institute we have built exists for a reason. A student headed into management, one building a career in commerce and technology, and one training to be an engineer all need a different kind of preparation - that's why we've never tried to fit everyone into one classroom. Education has to evolve at the pace of the world outside the campus, and staying close to that pace is what keeps us building institute by institute, rather than settling for one size that fits none. Forty-three years on, no ranking means as much to me as hearing an alumnus say they walked into their first job already ready for it." For students still shortlisting colleges this admission cycle, ASM Group of Institutes is positioning its campuses around a straightforward pitch: pick a track - management, commerce and technology, engineering, or a dedicated MBA - and get an education designed specifically for it, backed by a group that has been refining this model across Maharashtra since 1983. Looking further ahead, the Group has also begun laying the groundwork for ASM NextGen University, envisioned as a multidisciplinary university bringing management, technology, research, innovation and entrepreneurship together under one future-ready academic ecosystem. "Our vision is long-term," says Dr Pachpande. "ASM NextGen University will be built on the same values that have guided us for decades - quality, relevance and responsibility - but reimagined for the future." About ASM Group of Institutes ASM Group of Institutes is a Pune-based education group established in 1983, comprising specialised institutes including ASM's Institute of Business Management and Research (IBMR), ASM's Institute of International Business and Research (IIBR), ASM's Institute of Commerce, Science and Information Technology (CSIT), ASM's Institute of Professional Studies (IPS), and ASM's NextGen Technical Campus, Talegaon. The group offers AICTE-approved and Savitribai Phule Pune University-affiliated programs across management, commerce, science, information technology and engineering, with an alumni network of over 75,000 professionals globally and placement partnerships with 350+ recruiters. Redington teams with AutomationEdge to accelerate enterprise automation and agentic AI SaaS. SaasRise - Jul 22, 2026 Redington, a technology aggregator, and AutomationEdge, an agentic process-automation platform, announced a strategic partnership that makes AutomationEdge's AI agents available on Redington's AI Exchange Marketplace. The deal aims to speed enterprise adoption of automation and AI-driven workflows across banking, insurance, IT, and finance functions. Why it matters. The Redington-AutomationEdge alliance underscores the growing importance of channel-enabled distribution for enterprise SaaS, especially in high-complexity domains like process automation and AI agents. By leveraging a marketplace model, vendors can reduce friction, accelerate time-to-value, and open new revenue streams for partners, reshaping the traditional direct-sales paradigm. For investors and operators, the deal signals that scaling AI-native SaaS solutions may increasingly depend on ecosystem partnerships rather than pure product-led growth. Companies that can embed their technology within established distribution channels are likely to capture a larger share of the enterprise automation spend projected to exceed $30 billion by 2028. Key points. * Redington's AI Exchange Marketplace now lists AutomationEdge's AI agents and automation workflows. * Partnership targets banking, insurance, IT/HR, customer service, and finance functions. * Joint GTM includes co-branded workshops, partner enablement, and PoC engagements. * Redington's network spans over 5,000 resellers and system integrators across APAC. * Both firms cite 10x automation capabilities and outcome-driven transformation as core benefits. Analysis. The Redington-AutomationEdge tie-up illustrates a strategic shift in SaaS distribution: moving from pure product-led growth to a hybrid model that blends marketplace accessibility with deep channel expertise. Historically, enterprise automation vendors have struggled with long sales cycles and complex integration requirements. By surfacing ready-to-deploy AI agents in a marketplace, the partnership reduces friction and creates a self-service layer that can accelerate adoption, especially among mid-market firms that lack extensive internal AI talent. From a competitive standpoint, the alliance positions AutomationEdge against rivals like UiPath and Automation Anywhere, which have traditionally relied on direct sales and large consulting partners. Redington's extensive reseller base offers a broader, more localized reach, potentially eroding the market share of incumbents that have slower channel roll-outs. The partnership also aligns with the broader industry trend of "AI-as-a-service" where vendors package AI capabilities as modular, consumable assets rather than bespoke projects. Looking ahead, the success of this model will hinge on measurable outcomes: reduction in deployment time, increase in net-new ARR, and partner-generated expansion revenue. If Redington can demonstrate a clear ROI for its ecosystem, other technology aggregators may replicate the approach, accelerating the commoditization of enterprise AI automation. For SaaS founders, the lesson is clear - building a robust partner ecosystem and leveraging marketplace dynamics can be as critical as product innovation in capturing enterprise spend.
