Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and at least four years’ experience working with college students in an academic counseling capacity.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for understanding and communicating requirements and academic options to facilitate student progress to degree and pursuit of academic goals.
  • Advise students during registration and add/drop periods at the start of each semester.
  • Help students identify and pursue educational, life, and career goals.
  • Advise incoming first year and transfer students at spring, summer, fall, and August orientation.
  • Maintain and strengthen the undergraduate academic programs the team supports by participating in meetings and decision-making.
  • Increase knowledge, skills, and abilities through continuing education and professional development.
  • Serve on committees, working groups, or advisory boards as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Additional experience beyond the required or extensive experience in advising, group work, assessment, and administration of college students' academic programs.
  • Ability to relate well with college students, staff, and faculty.
  • Experience at UT Austin or another large university.
  • Experience with First Year Interest Group (FIG)/Transfer Interest Group (TRIG) programs.
  • Personal computer experience in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
