Requirements
  • A business-minded lawyer, with an ability to translate legal concepts to non-lawyers
  • An effective communicator -- verbally and in writing
  • Experienced at advising marketing teams on dynamic and innovative new products
  • Well versed on product development issues, including ad technologies, cookies, trackers, accessibility and more
  • Keenly able to identify and assess risk and provide tailored recommendations for risk mitigation
  • Autonomous and comfortable exercising sound judgment in a fast-paced environment
  • Entrepreneurial, resourceful and the type of person that thrives on change and new challenges
  • A J.D. with outstanding academic credentials
  • At least 10+ years of combined experience at a leading law firm and/or an e-commerce, consumer-facing company, strong preference for both in house and law firm experience
  • At least 5-6 years in a product, marketing, media and/or advertising law role
  • Must be admitted, active and in good standing with the New York State Bar, Colorado State Bar or another state bar
Responsibilities
  • Lead the legal team's review and oversight of marketing and advertising initiatives across all channels
  • Lead negations and draft complex marketing, online advertising, mar-tech, SaaS, strategic partnerships and other service level agreements
  • Advise senior leadership on marketing and advertising regulations and provide astute risk assessment
  • Own and build process for legal review of marketing materials
  • Advise our brand and growth marketing teams on local and national marketing campaigns, promotions, sweepstakes, etc
  • Collaborate with internal partners and outside counsel to mitigate marketing and advertising risk
  • Act as the main point of contact to advise on new product launches and related initiatives
  • Tackle uncharted problems and work with business partners to meet the needs of our fast-paced and innovative product teams
