Requirements
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
  • Willingness to earn and maintain Pharmacy Technician Certification Board certification through the designated training program and/or state-required certification or registration.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and perform other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and positive customer experience.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, resolving customer issues, and answering questions.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members, including proactive assistance, identifying needs, and serving customers until satisfied.
  • Develop strong relationships with valuable customers.
  • Review and comply with the Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Enter patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verify medications, check for possible interactions, and assist pharmacists with scheduling and maintaining workflow.
  • Immediately report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and follow company policies and procedures for pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Follow the Walgreens Good Faith Dispensing policy during applicable prescription-dispensing activities.
  • Register related sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash, and assist customers in locating over-the-counter products.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, including calls to physicians.
  • Process, correct, and resubmit manual claims for third-party prescription services and perform assigned clerical duties.
  • Assist with pharmacy inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments, and file claims for overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged prescription drugs.
  • Assist the pharmacist with clinical services, including collecting and properly labeling blood and urine samples and coordinating services with pharmacy staff, Walgreens healthcare clinics, and external providers.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in maintaining relationships with the local medical community through provider outreach and engagement with health groups and care facilities.
  • Maintain the Pharmacy Department's supplies, cleanliness, orderliness, and appearance.
  • Complete assigned training and continuing education and maintain current knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills for accurately counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board certification.
