  • Professional billing knowledge and a clear understanding of billing, denials, and working with staff and insurance companies.
  • A thorough knowledge of payer insurance plans and billing guidelines for all major insurance companies.
  • A minimum of eight years of physician business office experience is preferred.
  • Experience with personal computers and the Microsoft Office suite of products is helpful.
  • High school graduation or equivalent is required.
Responsibilities
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate the activities of the billing accounts receivable follow-up team to ensure optimal reimbursement and maximize cash flow in accordance with federal and state requirements and third-party payer contracts.
  • Assist staff in managing accounts receivable while optimizing payments from third-party payers.
  • Provide direct supervision and assist billing representatives in the accounts receivable follow-up process.
  • Assist in prioritizing work for billing office staff.
  • Submit and follow up on claims when necessary and on a timely basis.
  • Manage and maintain the systems and equipment needed by billing office staff.
  • Handle or assist with refresher training for assigned billing office staff after their initial training on the practice management software.
  • Identify system or procedural problems that create third-party claim rejections and formulate and implement plans to minimize or eliminate those rejections.
  • Generate and analyze practice analysis and accounts receivable aging reports, targeting areas requiring attention.
  • Review third-party payer reimbursement and rejection trends and revise in-house protocols to maximize revenue.
  • Manage, analyze, and report on the Epic system daily.
  • Supervise billing representatives daily.
