Requirements
  • At least 1 year of experience in environmental services and/or acute care-related support departments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of team members and management.
  • Experience with typical environmental services equipment and machinery.
  • A physical examination, PPD/TB test, and blood testing for measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox, and hepatitis B antibodies are required upon hire.
  • COVID-19 vaccination and flu vaccination are required upon hire.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise the resources needed for the Environmental Services department and make recommendations for hiring.
  • Supervise the waste program to ensure waste is separated, packaged, and disposed of according to regulations.
  • Perform quality improvement initiatives, conduct environmental hygiene rounds, and prepare reports documenting results.
  • Manage the bed tracking system, ensure Environmental Services response times are achieved, and collaborate with the manager on improvement activities.
  • Apply knowledge of cleaning and disinfection principles, chemical and equipment usage, and labor requirements for maintaining furniture, furnishings, and interior finishes.
  • Oversee inventories, usage data, consumable-supply ordering, and equipment repairs.
  • Prepare master work and time schedules, coordinate vacation and holiday time, and review daily schedule adjustments.
  • Provide on-site training for new Environmental Services associates.
  • Supervise subcontractors and/or Environmental Services suppliers.
  • Adhere to organizational safety, risk management, infection control, and prevention standards, and promote patient safety through observation and education.
  • Coach team members on the chain of infection and core principles for transmitting infectious pathogens.
  • Respond to emergency calls and competing priorities to coordinate staffing changes and minimize disruption.
  • Conduct patient and staff interviews to evaluate service levels and promote positive public relations.
  • Participate in efforts to improve patient-experience cleanliness scores and departmental performance metrics.
  • Control expenditures within approved budget objectives and take corrective action when budget variances occur.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience managing staff.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, project management software, and Environmental Services software systems.
