Requirements
  • At least 8 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Prior experience working in government or government consulting at the local, state, or federal level.
  • Critical thinking about the process and outcomes of research.
  • Well-crafted research deliverables, such as reports or presentations.
  • Facilitation of research synthesis activities, generating insights and opportunities for intervention.
  • Experience identifying opportunities to introduce change and scale successful research efforts within organizations.
  • Must work from the United States, including all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.
  • Must have been a resident in the United States for 3 of the past 5 years.
  • Must already have legal authorization to work in the United States and not require ongoing visa sponsorship to maintain legal authorization.
  • Must be a permanent U.S. resident.
  • Must complete a Public Trust background investigation, including the applicable SF85 or SF85P questionnaire and fingerprinting.
  • Must accommodate flexibility in working hours for Eastern Standard Time collaboration.
  • Must actively participate in client virtual meetings, including appearing on camera.
Responsibilities
  • Lead complex or multi-stream research efforts that inform program and contract strategy.
  • Apply advanced qualitative and quantitative methods to solve multifaceted research needs.
  • Mentor peers and strengthen team capability through guidance and feedback.
  • Craft compelling insights that shape product priorities and stakeholder alignment.
  • Drive adoption of research findings across teams to influence roadmap decisions.
  • Coach others on integrating user feedback and understanding human behavior at every stage of the process.
  • Guide clients and teams in making user research analysis and findings actionable.
  • Influence strategic improvements to user experiences through implicit and explicit leadership.
  • Shape how the UX research discipline expresses its intent across the program and ensure prioritization of accessibility and scalability.
  • Articulate rationale to complex stakeholder groups with competing priorities.
  • Set clear objectives and make informed decisions to drive long-term success.
  • Build connections and relationships between people, teams, projects, A1M, and clients to prevent and break down silos and improve delivery.
  • Obtain buy-in from teammates, team leads, government stakeholders, and other relevant parties so necessary work happens.
  • Recognize risks and conflicts within teams and with clients, help identify approaches, take action, manage upward, and escalate when appropriate.
  • Evaluate personal skills and deliverables and seek learning opportunities to improve continuously.
  • Initiate and drive projects requiring collaboration across disciplines and practices on challenging problems.
  • Coach and mentor people across practice areas.
  • Anticipate and proactively provide information needed by other practices and disciplines.
  • Identify and respond to government requirements or policies affecting project work, including accessibility, PRA, FOIA, acquisition regulations, and security compliance.
  • Anticipate the needs of government partners and users and address them proactively.
  • Represent the company and team to clients, including in challenging situations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with a social-impact-focused product team or in civic technology.
  • Experience working with distributed, cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, engineers, and subject matter experts.
  • Personal experience with government health and human services programs.
  • Working knowledge of Medicare, the Affordable Care Act, MACRA, Medicaid, or CHIP.
  • Familiarity with SAFe and agile methodologies.
  • A college degree in Psychology, Information Science, Graphic Design, or a related field.
