Requirements
  • Must love mobile games, particularly casual genres including Match-3, bubble shooter, and narrative; some interest in mid-core genres including RPG puzzles, strategy RPGs, and geolocation based games
  • One or more years experience in UX or consumer insights research, preferably in the gaming space
  • Expertise and training in research design, understanding of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies (e.g. surveys, playtesting, competitive analyses, usability studies, expert review, questionnaire development and analysis, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively create screening criteria, recruit research participants, build rapport with a wide range of players, and moderate playtesting sessions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter with passion, energy, enthusiasm to drive results and affect meaningful change
  • Strong attention to detail, written and oral communications skills
  • A team player, who thrives on working collaboratively, inspiring others and bringing out the best in the wider team
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced, undefined environment
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Responsibilities
  • Support senior researchers with quantitative and qualitative research initiatives across our portfolio of mobile games
  • Set up and manage our remote testing platforms
  • Lead recruiting initiatives for playtesting
  • Help program and QA surveys prior to launch
  • Moderate interviews and focus groups
  • Assist with the design and execution of research projects using a number of methods - including but not limited to surveys, playtesting, interviews, concept testing, usability testing, longitudinal studies, and player journey mapping
  • Assist with data cleaning, report crafting, and the presentation/distribution of findings and results with stakeholders
  • By the end of the first year, lead end-to-end basic qualitative and quantitative research projects independently
  • Support and lead projects for our insight community of VIP players to gain agile and ongoing player feedback with our highly engaged players
  • Help maintain our internal database of playtesters for in-house and remote playtesting
  • Promote research best practices and evidence-based decision-making throughout Jam City game teams
  • Take initiative to stay current with industry trends and best practices in the mobile games industry and in the games user research industry
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with survey tools such as Qualtrics or Alchemer
  • Familiarity with mobile game mechanics is a plus
  • SAS, R, SPSS, Tableau and/or other analytics software packages a plus
  • Previous experience working with data science and analytics teams a plus
  • Experience creating and maintain recruiting databases for playtesting
  • Experience with remote testing software
