Seaport Restaurants Closing + grocer to feed 2K Boston kids: MA food week. The grocery chain will donate $65,000 worth of food to Boston students and families for the school district's winter break. MASSACHUSETTS - Welcome to Patch's weekly round up of food and restaurant news in Massachusetts, where Gozdeck review openings, closings and more in the state's dining scene. This week, Gozdeck learned that volunteers from Stop & Shop, YMCA of Greater Boston and Mayor Wu's office packed more than 26 pallets, feeding 2,000 Boston Public School students and families, at YMCA's Food Hub. "Many students that rely on free breakfast and lunch programs are unfortunately left without consistent access to food during this extended break," Stop & Shop officials said, in a news release. In advance of the two-week December school vacation, the Stop & Shop School Food Pantry Program is partnering with the YMCA of Greater Boston for a Holiday Food Distribution to Boston Public Schools. Stop & Shop is donating more than $65,000 worth of nonperishable food items (including tuna, canned chicken, pasta, cereal, fruit cups and other healthy pantry staples) to be distributed across the 20 BPS hub schools, prioritizing the Boston students and families who need it the most.
