Overview
We are looking for a software engineer focusing on security to join the Bastion engineering team. As a security software engineer, you will have a pivotal role in building the product and infrastructure that powers it. You will work across the full stack of features, services, and infrastructure, ensuring that we surpass our customers’ expectations. Your focus on designing and building security-centric features and systems will be critical to position Bastion as a leader in the industry.
Ideal candidates for this role value team culture and the dynamism of face-to-face collaboration. Preferably based in New York or San Francisco and interested in a hybrid or in-office working model to foster strong team bonds and drive collective success.
Responsibilities
Architect, design, and implement security measures into the Bastion infrastructure across all backend and frontend services.
Build resilient security services and infrastructure operating within the Bastion platform.
Define, socialize, and uphold the Bastion threat model and security posture across all surfaces of the platform.
Ensure customers are kept safe by implementing monitoring, analysis, and incident response measures.
Educate and train the broader Bastion team on security best practices to keep the organization safe.
Lead and orchestrate third-party security audits of the Bastion codebase and infrastructure, including ensuring the delivery of reports suitable for customer consumption.
Qualifications
4+ years of professional engineering experience, startup experience a plus.
Strong applied cryptography experience, rust/lower-level experience.
Track record and interest in building security infrastructure to directly enable products.
Optional but encouraged: You demonstrated strong appetite for competition across: competitive programming (ACM-ICPC, topcoder) and Capture-the-Flag (CSAW, DEFCON).
