Who You Are
As a Production Manager you will be responsible for the planning, execution, and reporting of manufacturing operations of our innovative Silicon Anode production lines. You will drive operational improvements and support the growth of the people, processes, and systems at the facility, ensuring on time delivery of Sila’s material to high profile automotive customers. The role will be based in Alameda, CA, for the first year, where you will learn on and improve our 1st commercial production line. You will then transfer to Moses Lake, WA, to start up Sila’s first production facility, working with the core team that will lead all production activities at Sila’s first Mass Auto Scale Plant.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead manufacturing operations in planning, optimizing, and improving of our Alameda production line. Develop policies, systems, and projects to support ongoing production and continual improvement.
- Instill a culture of safety and quality through engaging and empowering all individuals on the team.
- Work with the core leadership team in Moses Lake to prepare for the installation, commissioning, and start-up of our first Auto Scale Manufacturing plant. Support hiring, training, and system deployment.
- Structure, organize, and streamline the team, workstreams, programs, troubleshooting approaches, and supporting systems to enable a highly effective organization.
- Manage improvement projects and oversee project management of ongoing initiatives including lean implementation, theory of constraints, and material flow improvements.
- Grow and further develop Sila’s Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) capabilities to support operational effectiveness. Work closely with the Finance team to reduce manufacturing variances, report COGS, and monitor/report out on inventory levels.
- With reports, collaboratively develop goals, coordinate and track progress of plans, allocate roles and responsibilities, and navigate challenges and roadblocks.
- Help reports understand how their role and contributions are important to the Company’s success and give and receive constructive feedback, and provide input to the organization on the report’s contributions - celebrate wins.
- Hire, coach, and support talent through consistent feedback, navigation of challenges, and celebration of wins.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical discipline, engineering preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 7 years of work experience in an industrial setting with management experience.
- Preferred background in material or chemical manufacturing operations.
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills with an affinity for mentoring and developing others.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, and ability to implement them into a manufacturing process.
- Able to listen, influence, coach, and train on safe operating behaviors.
- Strong initiative, meeting facilitation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Hands-on, committed approach to problem solving and troubleshooting.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes.
- Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time.
- Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location.

The starting base pay for this role is between $117,500 and $148,250 at the time of posting. The actual base pay within these ranges depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses.
