Requirements
  • An Associates Degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Medical Terminology, Lean Training, CHAA or CHAR Certified are preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in a related leadership role is required.
  • Minimum of one year of prior Team Lead or coaching experience is required (including hiring staff, delivering corrective action, and leading employees).
  • Proficiency with technology, including computers, software, Microsoft Office, an Electronic Health Record system, and other web-based portals is required.
  • Proficiency with Epic registration, scheduling and billing is required.
  • The employee must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and the COVID-19 virus or have an approved exemption by signing a statement certifying the choice to be exempt once hired.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the super-user and lead in a facility setting.
  • Provide leadership and direction to assigned personnel within the Patient Access department.
  • Create positive relationships and ensure an excellent patient experience throughout the facility, including involvement with the patient arrival and registration process.
  • Ensure coverage for quality registration 7 days a week, 24 hours a day across the facility.
  • Monitor and maintain quality data to hold staff accountable to department metrics and standards.
  • Ensure optimal reimbursement through accurate registration, insurance verification, and upfront collections.
  • Act as a resource and provide education to staff.
  • Maintain staff productivity and ensure registration functions of the system are maintained as a supplement to emergency room arrival and registration.
  • Oversee the expired patient process.
  • Manage safekeeping of patient valuables.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred (already listed under Requirements, but considered desirable if it is optional).
  • Medical Terminology certification is preferred.
  • Lean Training is preferred.
  • CHAA or CHAR Certification is preferred.
  • Experience in leadership roles and coaching is desirable but not required.
