Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree, completed or in progress, in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of estimating experience, including experience leading a team of estimators in cost, scheduling, design review, bidding strategies, and risk management efforts.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of construction methods.
  • Ability to accurately interpret technical documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and digital takeoff and estimating software.
Responsibilities
  • Develop estimates at all phases of design, coordinating internal team members performing site, mechanical, and electrical estimates, and reporting to executive management.
  • Coordinate the subcontractor bidding process.
  • Assist the preconstruction manager with information supporting clients and project needs.
  • Assist the Chief Estimator with maintaining the estimating database.
  • Support business development efforts through requests for proposal responses and project interviews.
  • Perform architectural systems and material takeoffs and develop cost estimate reports using Timberline/Sage estimating software.
  • Coordinate with material vendors and subcontractors for market pricing.
  • Assess subcontractor market conditions and develop subcontractor bid lists.
  • Develop subcontractor bid packages itemizing specific trade work scopes.
  • Review subcontractor bids and proposals for conformance to requested information.
  • Control bid-day efforts among the estimating team to finalize competitive hard-bid estimates.
  • Discuss estimates and subcontractor bidding results with clients and design team members.
  • Provide constructability reviews and quality-control feedback on project documents to designers.
  • Develop cost-reduction strategies and evaluate value-engineering suggestions for cost and schedule impact.
