Requirements
  • A doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.
  • Two years of related professional experience.
  • One year of comparable supervisory experience with clinical trainees.
  • Demonstrated experience and training in generalist counseling.
  • Licensure as a Psychologist and ability to attain licensure as a Psychologist in Nevada by the start date.
  • Strong clinical assessment and crisis intervention skills.
  • Experience in supervision and training.
  • Proficiency in brief therapy and group counseling.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse identity backgrounds.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Occasional evening and weekend availability.
  • Successful completion of a background screening.
  • Compliance with the Student Wellness Center Employee Exposure to Communicable Disease Prevention Policy.
Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight for CAPS Outreach, Social Media and Technology, and Wellness Promotion.
  • Ensure policies and practices comply with safe, effective, and professional conduct standards, state and federal laws and mandates, licensure requirements, accreditation standards, and UNLV and Nevada System of Higher Education mandates.
  • Ensure CAPS, Student Wellness Unit, Division of Student Affairs, and university philosophies and standards are disseminated and followed.
  • Integrate outreach and prevention programming into overall counseling center activities while managing available resources.
  • Oversee the development, interpretation, and execution of outreach policies and procedures.
  • Provide individual, couples, and group counseling.
  • Conduct initial consultations and intake evaluations.
  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention.
  • Provide outreach programming and consultation services.
  • Provide direct clinical supervision and training to clinical trainees and psychological assistants.
  • Participate in the CAPS leadership team and assist with departmental strategic planning and leadership responsibilities.
  • Provide administrative supervision of Wellness Promotion staff and student workers.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating outreach programs in higher education with progressive administrative experience.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited graduate program.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship program.
