Requirements
  • You are currently enrolled in an Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering program, or in a Construction Management program.
  • You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • You must have residency or a valid work permit that would allow you to work for Bird Construction or one of its wholly owned subsidiaries.
  • All applications must include a current transcript.
Responsibilities
  • Update and integrate Company Operations Manual forms, where applicable, into new InEight software.
  • Set up custom standard views in InEight software for rollout across the company.
  • Update existing Operations Manual forms and perform regular maintenance updates of the manual.
  • Support the Operational Services Director's initiatives related to process standardization, quality alignment, operations manual updates, and tools and systems implementation.
  • Organize meetings and project timelines and schedules.
  • Identify bottlenecks and suggest improvements to streamline operations.
  • Collect operational data, generate reports, and analyze performance metrics.
  • Act as a bridge between Digital Services, business-unit operations, People & Culture's Learning and Development function, and Finance.
  • Collaborate and partner on projects, including operational course delivery initiatives, facilitator manuals, and reporting.
  • Assist with learning needs analysis and propose relevant learning solutions.
  • Support the design, development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning activities and operational solutions.
  • Collaborate on learning solutions supporting the uptake of required knowledge, skills, and processes through instructor-led classroom, virtual, and eLearning delivery methods, including videos, job aids, performance supports, and podcasts.
  • Deliver program content directly, indirectly through the internal network, or through vendors.
  • Assist in developing communication and marketing materials to promote uptake of learning solutions across Bird's business divisions.
  • Ensure learning solutions and assets are relevant and effective according to best practices and business standards.
  • Analyze results of operational learning modules.
  • Monitor emerging trends and organizational needs to provide informed recommendations for innovation.

Bird Construction reports record $11B backlog with 45% growth despite Q4 loss

Bird Construction Inc reported a record backlog exceeding $11 billion in Q4 2025, representing 45% growth over 2024. The company secured $4.7 billion worth of work during the year and achieved a full-year gross profit margin of 10.5%, up from 9.7% in 2024. However, the company posted a net loss of $14 million in Q4, primarily due to a $62.2 million impairment on accounts receivable related to customer creditworthiness concerns. Revenue remained flat compared to 2024, affected by project delays and unfavourable weather conditions. Bird Construction's acquisition of FRPD expanded its self-performed capabilities in marine construction and dredging. The company expects double-digit revenue growth in 2026, with 54% of its backlog scheduled for execution during the year.

Bird announces Development Phase Agreement for Peel Memorial Hospital Phase 2 Redevelopment. Bird Construction Inc. (TSX: BDT) is pleased to announce that it has entered into a Development Phase Agreement (DPA) with Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and William Osler Health System (Osler) for the Peel Memorial Hospital Phase 2 Redevelopment project.
