Requirements
  • Relevant street lighting maintenance experience, preferably gained within a local authority environment.
  • Qualification at SCQF Level 7, such as an HNC, SVQ Level 4, or equivalent, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline; significant relevant experience and a strong craft, trade, or technical background in an electrical engineering-related field may also be considered.
  • Experience in street lighting maintenance, including financial budget management and coordination of resources associated with street lighting operations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt communication to members of the public, colleagues, and contractors.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrate initiative, and work independently.
  • Good understanding of street lighting and/or roads maintenance procedures and documentation.
  • Competent level of information technology skills.
Responsibilities
  • Support the efficient organisation and delivery of the technical and operational requirements of the Street Lighting Maintenance Team.
  • Coordinate team activities and work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver street lighting maintenance and related services in accordance with statutory requirements, prescribed standards, and Council policies.
  • Manage street lighting faults, service requests, and emergency responses across Fife.
  • Provide technical advice on the maintenance of street lighting, traffic signals, variable message signs, and illuminated traffic signs.
  • Support design, project delivery, and construction monitoring services.
  • Maintain, manage, and interrogate relevant asset and maintenance management systems.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of network data and inventory records.
  • Use asset and performance data to support effective management and maintenance of the roads lighting network.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and develop maintenance programmes and service initiatives.

  • Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
