  • A valid New York State Professional Engineer's License
  • Four years of full-time experience in electrical engineering
  • A master's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college will be accepted as equivalent to one year of the full-time experience in electrical engineering
Responsibilities
  • Reviewing and approving engineering submittals including, but not limited to: engineering analyses, technical and contractual specifications, drawings, manuals, test plans and reports, schematics, design modifications, prototypes for electrical and mechanical systems and components.
  • Providing engineering and technical support to all work equipment capital projects including but not limited to: writing and reviewing technical specifications, contract provisions, reviewing bidding proposals, reviewing preliminary and critical design reviews, and First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Determining root causes of failures and developing corrective actions.
  • Traveling, both domestically and internationally, to contractor facilities.
  • Reporting to field locations on a 24-hour, 7 day/week basis in the performance of assigned tasks.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of rail work equipment (Work Cars), hi-rail vehicles and various specialized rolling stock, including systems, sub-systems, and components.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines or hybrid systems.
  • Knowledge of relays, power electronics, or PLC programming.
  • Experience in field inspection and testing of rail vehicles.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles applied to railway equipment design.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Access.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., Auto CAD, MicroStation, Solid Edge, SolidWorks).
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
