  • Entry-level PhD, MS (3 years) in a formulation, biopharmaceutics, or a related field
  • Experience with formulation, solubility, and dissolution experiments in biorelevant media
  • Testing of prototype formulations to optimize absorption
  • Expert knowledge in physiology and in pharmacokinetics
  • Experience with running HPLC and/or UPLC
  • Knowledge about solid state characterization
  • Appropriate modeling and computer software experience in computer programs or PK software, i.e., Matlab, R, Python, WinNonlin, NONMEM, Gastroplus, Simcyp or similar programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities
  • Conduct lab experiments to characterize the solubility and dissolution characteristics of the drug substance and drug product
  • Develop and validate experimental methods to feed into simulation models to predict drug-excipient interactions and optimize formulation designs
  • Develop and advance concepts of translational biopharmaceutics with a focus on improving predictive capabilities by linking in vitro drug product performance attributes to in vivo performance attributes
  • Assist in combining leading-edge in vitro and in silico capabilities with drug product design
  • Design in vitro experiments to evaluate drug products using principles of quality by design and understanding of drug product manufacturing processes
  • Work in close collaboration with various groups to address the biopharmaceutical needs of oral, parenteral, transdermal, and other delivery routes
