PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Hiring Salary: $16.80 - $21.00/hour

OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
The Licensing Division enforces and administers the city’s licensing codes and works to ensure that the City’s regulated business industry is clean and adequately regulated. This position will assist the division in enforcing prohibitions against liquor and marijuana being sold to people under the age of 21 and protecting public health, safety and welfare. The position will be attempting to purchase alcohol and tobacco products from licensed retailers.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Periodic as needed work attempting to purchase alcohol and marijuana products while working with Licensing staff.
- Ability to testify at administrative hearings or in court.
- No set working schedule or guaranteed hours.
- Work schedule will work around class schedules and other employment.
- Incumbents will attempt to purchase regulated products including showing their identification or providing a truthful or false response to age related questions depending on the nature of the investigation.
- Licensing personnel will be present outside or inside of the licensed business monitoring the attempted purchase. Work will involve getting into and out of a vehicle at various locations during a single shift.
- Additional work may be required for testimony at a civil or criminal proceeding under oath.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
- Two years of high school completion
Experience:

- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work independently as well as to accept supervision during operations
- At least 18 years of age

Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Must possess and maintain a valid State Issued Identification Card (ID) or Driver License
WORKING CONDITIONS
Essential Personnel:
- When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the city, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
- Light work that involves moving no more than 20 pounds at a time
- Frequently getting into and out of a vehicle and opening doors to enter and exit businesses.
Work Environment:
- Throughout the city at various businesses in various weather conditions and environments.
