As Head of Engineering, Payer Coding, you will be an engineering leader who shapes what we do and will set the tone for how we do it. You will be in charge of a team of “pods” (engineering manager + several engineers) developing coding-related products for Health Insurance (“Payers”) customers. Your north star will be increasing Payer Coding revenue and margin.
In this role you will:
- Build, grow, and lead a world-class team of engineering managers and engineers who build our Payer Coding Platform
- Create the technical vision for Datavant’s suite of Payer Coding products.
- Partner with product and design to ship value to customers
- Be a critical leader of the payer products and business, delivering rapid revenue and customer growth by directing how customer use cases, capabilities, positioning, and more come together to create a winning product.
- Be the champion & driver of product innovation processes & initiatives.
- Be hands-on by leading high impact efforts.
- Be a strong communicator, coach, and mentor.
What You Bring to the Table:
- You have 15+ years of engineering experience including multiple years in leadership, managing managers, building scrappy teams from scratch and building large enterprise software.

Our compensation philosophy is to be externally competitive, internally fair, and not win or lose on compensation. Salary ranges are developed with the support of benchmarks (competitive San Francisco rates for US-based roles) and industry best practices.

This means we default to simple job titles (e.g., Software Engineer) rather than complex ones (e.g., Senior Software Engineer). The range posted is for a given job title, which can include multiple levels. Individual rates for the same job title may differ based on their level, responsibilities, skills, and experience for a specific job. The estimated salary range for this role is $300,000 - $400,000.
