Goalbook’s mission is to empower educators to transform instruction so that ALL students succeed. We were founded in 2011 and are currently a team of 70 people, most of whom are former public school teachers. We now partner with 700 school districts across 47 states, but we are just getting started! We aspire to build a diverse and inclusive company that can have a systemic and cultural impact on the US K-12 school system over the long term.

Our Services and PD model
One of Goalbook’s business differentiators is a high-touch, relational model for services delivery with an emphasis on onsite delivery. We believe that making progress towards transforming instruction is best served by nurturing human connections and engagement that come through a face-to-face experience. Our professional development (PD) courses focus on improving instructional practices and are delivered primarily onsite. We also offer application training courses on the use of our solutions which are delivered virtually.
Today, our PD catalog includes a total of 7 courses and we are in the early stages of asynchronous module development. Our Customer Success team, who delivers the PD courses, consists of 23 full-time staff located across the country and are former educators and administrators.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for an e-learning/PD designer with 2+ years edtech experience in a similar role.
In this role you will design and produce external professional development and training which align with the onboarding and ongoing use cases for teachers using Goalbook’s solutions to improve the quality of instruction, and support our Customer Success team members with the effective delivery of courses.
As a Professional Development Designer, you take a strategic approach to designing instruction that supports transforming instruction at the three levels of heart (motivation), head (understanding), and hands (action). You have experience with face-to-face, digital, and blended modalities of delivery at an EdTech firm.
Regular travel is required, and can be heavy during the summer and fall seasons.
Design professional learning content that helps our district partners improve instructional practice
Guide new and update existing PD and training courses based on market feedback, product evolution, research, and input from stakeholders.
Directly contribute and coordinate with collaborators/contributors in designing courses.
Collaborate with the Success team on best practices in the design of engagement webinar series.
Train Success team members to deliver courses more effectively
Lead internal train-the-trainer and direct trainings to ensure Success team members understand and can deliver all courses.
Collaborate with managers on and directly participate in observations, feedback and coaching of the Success team on the delivery of courses.
Periodically deliver courses directly to stay connected with the work of the team in the field and the participant experience.
Manage processes for the development and delivery of courses
Iterate and improve upon the design process.
Build process and resources to produce courses across multiple modalities.
Develop tools to support the delivery of asynchronous courses (e.g., via LMS) and optimize engagement and accessibility.
Collaborate with team members across Goalbook
Collaborate with Success team managers and the data operations specialist to to collect and analyze activity data on the delivery of PDs and training.
Collaborate with Goalbook’s Lead Impact Researcher on measuring the efficacy and impact of Goalbook’s PDs, and incorporate findings into ongoing PD design.
Spearhead new initiatives to bring district leaders together for Goalbook-organized PD events or conferences.
This person will be a team of one, reporting to the Head of Partnerships and Success with a dotted line to the Customer Success Team Lead.
Required Skills & Experience
- 2+ years experience at an EdTech company as an e-learning or professional development designer
- 2+ years instructional leadership or coaching experience
- 5+ years teaching experience
- Expert knowledge of LMS and content authoring solutions
- 100-140k compensation range, based on experience and location
