Requirements
  • Experience in group fitness instruction.
  • Group Fitness Instructor Certification from a recognized organization such as the American Council on Exercise, National Academy of Sports Medicine, or Athletics and Fitness Association of America.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safe exercise techniques and principles, human anatomy, and kinesiology.
  • Knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies, including music, tempo, and cueing techniques.
  • Ability to demonstrate skills effectively and modify movements for participants of all fitness levels.
  • Knowledge of strength training, high-intensity interval training, Tabata, boot camp, sculpt, and senior class instruction modalities.
  • Ability to handle job responsibilities independently.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Availability to work flexible hours on a substitute-instructor basis, including early mornings and late evenings.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator certification.
Responsibilities
  • Lead regular group workout classes and develop positive relationships with class participants through motivational instruction and education.
  • Provide participants with regular feedback and accountability regarding their progress.
  • Prepare and lead effective group classes based on the class description, creating a welcoming environment for participants of every fitness level.
  • Assist participants with correcting form, provide alternative movements when needed, and help them remain motivated toward their personal goals.
  • Clean and organize the group fitness space before and after each class.
  • Maintain records of classes taught or covered as a substitute, including attendance numbers.
  • Secure substitute instructors as needed to cover regularly scheduled or agreed-upon classes.
  • Represent the Fitness Center professionally by greeting residents as they enter and leave and serving as a motivational resource.
  • Maintain a direct line of communication with the Management Team regarding needs, requests, and professional expectations.
  • Maintain current and correct certifications.
  • Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and/or First Aid in an emergency.
Desired Qualifications
  • A degree in Kinesiology, Sports Sciences, or a related health field.
