  • Graduation from a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current full practicing licensure with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Competence to type and effectively utilize a variety of computer software applications.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability and willingness to successfully undergo applicable screening and background checks satisfactory to The Salvation Army, including an Abuse Registry check, and provide an original copy of the background-check screening.
Responsibilities
  • Perform Licensed Practical Nurse duties within the competency guidelines and standards of practice outlined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia, the defined scope of practice, and employer policies within an acute or community healthcare setting.
  • Provide nursing services and interventions to patients, clients, and residents with stable and predictable health status based on assessment and care-planning procedures and within the Licensed Practical Nurse scope of practice.
  • Coordinate health services and provide support with activities of daily living, including administering medication.
  • Collaborate with Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, and the immediate supervisor when a patient, client, or resident condition is no longer stable and predictable or care falls outside the Licensed Practical Nurse scope of practice.
  • Provide safety and health information to individuals and their families, share work-related information with others, demonstrate clinical tasks, and provide guidance to others.
  • Work under varied conditions that may include exposure to hazards, disease, and inclement weather.
  • Participate in safety programs and follow occupational health and safety directives relating to transfers, lifts, infection control, Workers' Compensation Board requirements, and fire safety.
  • Assist in orienting new employees.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
