Responsibilities

Shamrock is looking for a Sr. Systems Engineer with the ability and drive to maintain both on-premise and public cloud infrastructure components. The ideal candidate will have an automation-first mindset, strong customer service skills, the capability to learn new skills quickly, and the ability to work across other areas as needed. Ability to handle change and the propensity for knowledge gathering and sharing is a must.

• Deploy and maintain cloud and on-premise systems and related technologies using Infrastructure-as-Code principles, to ensure maximum uptime and security.
• Perform troubleshooting to resolve escalated technical issues of affected equipment.
• Work effectively with 3rd party vendor support.
• Participate in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation and be onsite as needed.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in a technical field or evidence of sound technical ability.
• Must possess a passion for technology.
• Must possess initiative and analytical skills to resolve issues before they become critical.
• Must possess strong people skills and the ability to work as a team member, collaborating and partnering with team members to address issues.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing, keeping the right people informed of relevant issues as well as understand and execute oral and written instructions.
• Must be self-motivated, able to respond quickly when on call willing to work outside core area.
• Deep understanding of Windows Server operating systems.
• Advanced skills in Active Directory administration and troubleshooting. • 2+ years of experience deploying production instances in AWS and/or Azure.
• Mid-level ability to automate tasks via PowerShell and SCCM.
• Advanced knowledge of VMWare patching and administration.
• Understanding of data center architecture, maintenance, and repair.
• 3+ years of experience with application virtualization technology, such as Citrix and RemoteApp.
• Production experience managing systems monitoring solutions, preferably using Zabbix.
• Production experience administering backup systems, preferably using Rubrik.
• 2+ years of experience administering Linux operating systems.
• 2+ years of experience administering SAN storage.
• Ability to effectively get results from 3rd party vendor support.

Preferred qualifications

• Production experience with Nutanix and Pure storage.
• Experience with Hashicorp Terraform.
• Experience with Git.
• Experience with configuration management solutions such as Ansible.
• AWS certification.
• Advanced understanding of data center architecture, maintenance, and repair.
• Some database experience with SQL Server and PostgreSQL a nice to have.
