Requirements
  • The candidate must have at least 5 years of CNC machining experience, including setup and operation of CNC lathes.
  • The candidate must have previous supervisory or team lead experience in a machining environment.
  • The candidate must have strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, G-code, and blueprint reading.
  • The candidate must be familiar with AS9100, ISO 9001, and defense and aerospace quality standards.
  • The candidate must be proficient with enterprise resource planning and material requirements planning systems, such as M1, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The candidate must be able to coach, mentor, and develop machinists across skill levels.
  • The candidate must qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable export-control and International Traffic in Arms Regulations or otherwise be authorized under U.S. law to access export-controlled information.
Responsibilities
  • The supervisor oversees the daily operations of the lathe machining cell and supervises Senior Class A, Class A, Class B, and Class C machinists.
  • The supervisor assigns daily work, monitors performance, and ensures adherence to work instructions and drawings.
  • The supervisor conducts employee performance reviews, approves weekly time, and coordinates disciplinary actions according to company policies and procedures.
  • The supervisor provides mentorship and training to enhance skill development and cross-training across skill levels.
  • The supervisor works to remove barriers and obstacles that affect cost and scheduling performance.
  • The supervisor oversees daily operations of computer numerical control lathes and ensures throughput meets production schedules.
  • The supervisor monitors and drives productivity while minimizing downtime and idle hours.
  • The supervisor ensures proper setup, operation, and maintenance of lathes to maximize efficiency and extend equipment life.
  • The supervisor works with programming and planning teams to resolve issues affecting production flow.
  • The supervisor ensures work complies with AS9100, ISO 9001, NAVSEA, and customer requirements.
  • The supervisor partners with Quality Inspectors to address nonconformances, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • The supervisor identifies and implements Lean practices to improve workflow, reduce waste, and increase throughput.
  • The supervisor monitors process performance and leads root-cause and corrective-action initiatives for recurring issues.
  • The supervisor recommends tooling, fixturing, and process improvements to improve productivity and quality.
  • The supervisor champions a safe work environment and ensures compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • The supervisor maintains communication with machinists, operations leadership, and other departments and provides status updates on jobs, machine availability, and resource requirements.
  • The supervisor maintains a professional, safe, and clean work environment by following company policies, wearing required safety glasses, keeping the work area orderly, and following safety practices.
  • The supervisor establishes effective relationships with managers, directors, and staff to accomplish shared goals.
  • The supervisor abides by the company Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards and observes applicable U.S. and foreign laws and regulations.
