Requirements
  • Federal work study eligibility is required.
  • The position is best suited for graduate or undergraduate students in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or Policy programs.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily management activities and record keeping for property management and landowner requests.
  • Assist with field monitoring and other stewardship activities as needed.
  • Provide office support, customer service, information delivery, data entry, and use of standard office software programs and systems within established guidelines and policies.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong interest in natural resources conservation and land management.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro and similar geographic information systems software.
  • Knowledge of Best Management Practices for forestry and agriculture.
  • Understanding of open-space easements.
  • Ability to read and comprehend legal documentation.
  • Record-keeping and organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience compiling and submitting detailed reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with state and federal agencies, local planners, cooperators, and Virginia private landowners.
