Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required, along with a minimum of 2 years of teaching and preferably education sales experience in the publishing industry.
  • A proven record of consistent sales growth and goal achievement performance is required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills are required.
  • The ability to build and execute complex sales solutions is required.
  • The ability to establish, cultivate, and maintain effective working relationships with current and prospective customers, internal business partners, colleagues, and management is required.
  • Documented territory management and organizational skills are required.
  • Strong competency in business technologies, multiple applications, customer relationship management systems, and the Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • The ability to transport materials to customer locations and lift 50 pounds unaided is essential.
Responsibilities
  • Engage in sales call activities with prospective customers to explore and present product solutions for digital and print products.
  • Meet or exceed annual sales goals.
  • Create and implement strategic territory and business plans.
  • Drive new business to foster growth within the territory.
  • Provide accurate forecasts and sales activity reporting using company sales tools and historical data.
  • Participate in territory network-building opportunities, including conferences, group presentations, and industry functions.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Cengage integrates AI across 800+ higher education products to strengthen career-ready learning

Cengage has announced new AI capabilities across its higher education learning platforms, including Student Assistant, Instructor Assistant, and enhanced features within MindTap. The integrated tools aim to develop critical thinking and communication skills alongside AI literacy. Student Assistant provides contextual coaching based on Cengage content rather than generating answers. Students who struggle early in courses and use the tool are 90% more likely to continue submitting assignments through the term. Instructor Assistant gives faculty insights into student difficulties, enabling earlier intervention. MindTap offers AI-enabled scenarios and video-based assignments for real-world skills practice. This autumn, Student Assistant and Instructor Assistant will be available across more than 800 higher education products. According to Cengage's 2026 research, 58% of instructors believe today's graduates are less prepared for work than students a decade ago.
