Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and three years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment or field, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Ability to use computers effectively, including inputting, reviewing, and retrieving information, with extended periods of screen, mouse, and keyboard use.
  • Ability to use critical thinking to make decisions and analyze data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to attend meetings or events throughout campus regardless of weather.
  • Driving is not required for this position.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the advisor to the Programming and Activities Board and advise several PAB committees.
  • Serve as part of the Clubs and Organizations team, supporting student clubs and organizations across ASU.
  • Assist in planning and implementing programs that promote student development, spirit, pride, and tradition within the university community.
  • Support clubs and organizations as they navigate the club registration process.
  • Provide advice and guidance in planning and implementing a consistent, diverse, and robust lineup of campus events.
  • Serve as a main point of contact for Clubs and Organizations when they have questions or need guidance.
  • Develop undergraduate student leaders involved with the Programming and Activities Board.
  • Assist in managing a significant budget and ensure program goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with departmental and institutional priorities.
  • Develop and execute university-wide traditions.
  • Support leadership training and organizational management opportunities for PAB student leaders through workshops, seminars, and professional development.
  • Support Educational Outreach and Student Services divisional initiatives and events, including Welcome Week and Pitchfork Awards.
  • Promote Spirit, Pride, and Tradition among colleagues and students by implementing and participating in programs that promote affinity to ASU.
  • Represent Student Connection and Community on department and university committees, and attend seminars, workshops, and conferences.
  • Support relationships with university and external partners, including Aramark, Sun Devil Athletics, NACA, sponsors, and others.
  • Work primarily at the Downtown campus, with weekly travel between ASU locations and occasional travel to off-campus events and other ASU campuses.
  • Work collaboratively across university departments and with diverse populations and groups.
  • Work collaboratively to achieve objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree, preferably in Higher and Post-secondary Education, College Student Personnel, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of student organization and student government advising strategies.
  • Experience advising college or university student organizations.
  • Experience creating and executing diverse student programming in a higher education or similar context, including workshops, presentations, and events.
  • Ability to train students for leadership roles and cultivate relationships with student and professional staff.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks for oneself and others, with an understanding of university policy interpretation.
  • Ability to establish and nurture productive working relationships.
  • Proficiency in budgeting and understanding accounting principles.
  • Experience collaborating with a wide range of individuals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of management principles and practices, project management, and activity coordination.
  • Skill in organizing resources, establishing priorities, and implementing research.
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team.
