Requirements
  • On-call responsibility, if applicable.
  • Rotates through Main Department and all satellite areas.
  • Obtains peripheral intravenous access and injects contrast material, where required.
  • Maintains competence in imaging skills for Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • Enter patient data into computer systems accurately and QA images and patient information for accuracy prior to sending to PACS.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age and characteristics of the patient.
  • Practices in compliance with Hospital/department policy as well as New York state and accrediting agency standards (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Pursues validation of knowledge base, skill level, and decision making and seeks guidance in areas of question.
  • Completes hospital and departmental required education.
  • Establishes professional relationships with health care team members, patients, and families; communicates effectively with multidisciplinary team.
  • Participates in development and attainment of unit, department, and divisional goals.
  • Assists Physicians in all aspects of procedures in their assigned area.
  • Maintains stock supply and linen in exam room; performs light housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Maintains positive patient experience and safety during MRI procedures; provides age-appropriate care.
Responsibilities
  • Performs technical MRI procedures to create diagnostic images.
  • Assists in clinical evaluation and care of patients in a fast-paced Level I trauma and academic medical center.
  • Creates diagnostic images using MRI modality and ensures a safe and positive patient experience.
  • Supports teaching and continuous learning for staff and students as technology evolves.
  • Scans trauma, emergency room, outpatients, inpatients (stable and intensive care), research patients, and patients requiring MRI-guided procedures.
  • Maintains compliance with hospital and department policies and with New York state and accrediting agency standards.
  • Assists physicians during procedures in their assigned area.
  • Enters patient data into computer systems and performs quality assurance on images prior to PACS submission.
  • Rotates through main department and satellite areas.
  • Participates in unit, department, and divisional goal development and attainment.
  • Pursues validation of knowledge and skills and seeks guidance when needed.
  • Completes required education and on-going training.
  • Mentors and precepts new staff and students.
  • Maintains proper accreditations for the imaging department.
