Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Clayton said July 2026 loan reviews were up over 20% year-over-year.
  • Clayton is on pace to review 250,000 loans in 2026, supporting utilization.
  • Clayton increased staffing more than 15% in 2026, signaling demand and backlog growth.

What critics are saying

  • 2026 automation work targets indexing and classification, pressuring Clayton’s labor-heavy review margins.
  • Clayton depends on securitization volumes; a 2026 market slowdown would hit transaction flow fast.
  • If rating agencies or regulators distrust loan-level reviews, Clayton’s diligence franchise weakens materially.

What makes Clayton unique

  • Clayton’s eCLAS platform standardizes tape-to-file, compliance, and data integrity review workflows.
  • Clayton pioneered servicer monitoring and still bundles due diligence with servicing oversight.
  • Covius integration gives Clayton broader capital-markets reach across residential and commercial engagements.
