Our Houston, TX San Felipe office has an excellent opportunity for a Tax Advisor. The Tax Advisor will support and deliver the timely and accurate processing of tax returns that are contracted through the WETCS department. They will work with WEG Advisors to promote the tax offerings with their clients.
The salary target for this role is $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 depending on experience.
We select our initial compensation target using national compensation survey data. When we make an offer, we then factor in things like tenure, performance, and geographic location to come up with the most accurate numbers. Primary Job Functions
Tax Preparation and Compliance
Prepare tax returns, including related work documents: individual, Partnership, S-Corp, C-Corp, Trusts & Estates, and Foundations (Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120, 1041, 709 respectively)
Communicate directly with clients as needed
Maintain fluency in all aspects of tax compliance
First level review of returns
Conduct tax research and planning, including but not limited to CCH AnswerConnect, BNA tax planning, special research projects, retirement account tax recommendations and set-up
Review and respond to notices from federal, state, and other regulatory agencies
Prepare and review tax projections, recommend estimated tax payments
Amend tax returns as needed
Drive Productivity
Identify iterations in current applications to enhance productivity and timeliness
Be prepared to join client meetings to support tax work for IM/FP teams as needed
Continued learning on relevant skills and trends/Job Knowledge
Answer tax related questions and act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Partners and Planners
Study and research current industry trends
Maintain fluency in all tax related software procedures
Education/Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or Accounting preferred
CPA or EA required
3+ years of recent tax preparation experience, public tax accounting experience a plus
Proficiency in Excel, Work, CCH ProSystems Access Tax, CCH ProSystems Access Scan, and all other CCH ProSystems products preferred
Experience with bookkeeping software including QuickBooks also preferred
Strong interpersonal skills required to develop team and client relationships
Attention to detail and process, strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a dynamic environment and make decisions
On-site position with some remote work flexibility
