Hermeus Corporation is developing hypersonic aircraft capable of reaching speeds of Mach 5, which is over twice the speed of the Concorde, allowing for travel at approximately 3,800 miles per hour. This technology aims to significantly reduce travel times for airlines and government agencies interested in high-speed transportation. The aircraft's engine is powered by the Pratt & Whitney F100 turbine, and the company has recently achieved a key milestone by successfully testing this engine. Hermeus generates revenue by producing and selling these high-speed aircraft. With strong investor support, including a recent $100 million funding round led by Sam Altman, Hermeus is focused on advancing its technology to transform the aerospace industry.
