Job Description:
Deal Desk Analyst is a highly visible role in the organization where you will be responsible for providing essential guidance during the quote creation stage in the sales cycle and support to our Account Executives and Inside sales including cross functional collaboration with Renewal Management, AR/Finance, Sales Ops and Order Management. This role essential function is to ensure that deals are priced, structured, and negotiated in accordance with Vertex’s Inc. processes and policies.
Please note we are targeting the West Coast and Mountain Region for this role.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deal Strategy and Structuring:
- Own and support critical aspects of deal strategy, including structuring, pricing, quote generation, and order form creation.
- Senior Leadership Collaboration:
- Work closely with senior leaders, including the VP of Sales, Director of Sales, and Director of Revenue Operations, to ensure the successful completion of deals.
- Subject Matter Expertise:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for a specific region-based team, providing expertise on pricing, deal economics, and deal structure to the Sales organization.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Finance/AR, Renewal Management, Legal, Sales, Product, and Sales Operations teams on non-standard transactions and complex deals.
- Process Improvement:
- Assist the Sales Operations management team with process improvements and special projects to enhance operational efficiency.
- Guidance and Support:
- Provide essential guidance and support to Account Executives and Customer Success Managers, ensuring deals are priced, structured, and negotiated in accordance with Vertex Inc.’s policies and processes.
- Regional Point of Contact:
- Act as the subject matter expert and point of contact for a designated regional team, addressing all matters related to pricing and deal economics.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in deal structuring, pricing, and order form creation specifically in SFDC CPQ.
- Strong collaboration skills with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Expertise in pricing and deal economics within a sales organization.
- Ability to handle non-standard transactions and complex deal scenarios.
- Experience with process improvement initiatives and special projects.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of Excel
- Working knowledge of SaaS subscription models and revenue recognition including ARR/MRR and ACV.
- Strong emotional intelligence/maturity and ability to develop relationships and work cross-functionally with multiple internal stakeholders.
- Team player who can work in a fast-paced environment and ensure deals get closed, especially at month, quarter, and year-end.
- Extremely strong verbal and written communication skills
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a pricing, deal desk, or sales operations/analytics role
- Salesforce lighting CPQ or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
