Summary of Role
Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and Operations, the Director, FP&A of External Reporting will lead reporting to SunPower’s Board of Directors and developing financial information for external investors. This role will also involve creating other analysis such as detailed long-term plans and ad-hoc analysis for SunPower’s leadership team.
This role will work in partnership with multiple stakeholders across SunPower, including Treasury, Accounting, Legal, Operations, Sales, and Products. Cross-functional enterprise experience with business and finance stakeholders is essential. The ideal candidate will be an independent and curious thinker who can make convincing, information-based arguments and will never stop learning about our customers’ subject matter and areas of complexity.
This role provides members of management with financial information and projections. It evaluates current and proposed financial plans and policies including one or more of the following activities: company planning, divisional planning, profitability analysis, cost analysis or management services, and recommends changes that will accrue to the organization’s profitability. In addition, it reviews and approves recommendations for financial planning and control, providing relevant fiscal information to the CEO and CFO.
Success in this role requires you to think strategically. You will manage a team to perform deep dive analysis on existing processes, identify risks and controllership gaps, identify where process and system improvements are needed, define the desired state solutions, and work through dependencies to establish key project milestones. The successful candidate will have shown experience in past roles influencing business owners and supporting decision-making in rapidly evolving environments.
The role requires a strong leader who is a self-starter with the ability to work through ambiguity, being both strategic and analytical in their support of this project. The candidate must have the aptitude to incorporate new approaches and methodologies that are grounded in data-based recommendations. This role also has regular interaction with senior leaders and therefore requires strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as writing and presenting executive-level updates. This role has C-level and Board visibility, with extraordinary autonomy, scope, and potential for immediate impact.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee and prepare materials for SunPower’s Board of Directors including quarterly board updates and financial models.
- Develop financial metrics for external investors that are presented as part of quarterly earnings presentations.
- Develop other financial analysis such as free cash flows, financial models, and unit economics.
- Review the planning process and suggest improvements to current methods.
- Support key finance initiatives for the CFO
- Works collaboratively with business teams including project finance and often leads cross-functional teams to coordinate and provide guidance on strategic plans, annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and accounting policies.
- Ensures effective communication and timely resolution of conflicts.
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
- Supports the implementation of projects/programs to ensure the success of the Company.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 12+ years of related experience, including progressive experience in corporate finance, FP&A, consulting, investment banking or related fields.
- Experience in managing business unit/company P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet.
- Strong ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, make recommendations, and drive actions. High attention to detail.
- Proven ability to dive deep and find gaps that need to be addressed; and effectively identify, communicate, and recommend the best available solution to implement.
- Strong project planning/execution skills including estimating, scheduling, and executing on tight deadlines. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic thinker who will actively contribute as a member of SunPower’s leadership team, including setting strategy and deciding what our next best investments should be.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
- Experience in Energy/Utilities and Corporate/G&A Budget management.
- CPA or CFA preferred.
Pay Range:
$189,129 - $283,694
