Requirements
  • The candidate must be a qualified MQ-9 pilot with SLR experience.
  • The candidate must have 1,000 or more documented flight hours, manned or unmanned.
  • The candidate must have at least 500 hours as Pilot-in-Command in a medium- or high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aircraft system.
  • The candidate must hold an active Secret clearance and be able to attain a Top Secret clearance.
  • The candidate must hold an FAA Second Class Medical certificate.
  • The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
Responsibilities
  • Support test and evaluation requirements through test planning meetings, test plan development, event planning, test procedure and card development, flight briefings, test execution, post-event support, test reporting, and deficiency reporting.
  • Act as Pilot-in-Command of MQ-9 aircraft for launch and recovery efforts.
  • Coordinate and actively participate in unmanned aircraft system ground and flight operations, including mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management, and safety.
  • Define, plan, organize, and execute flight plans and schedules.
  • Review maintenance logs, weather reports, and forecasts.
  • Use Technical Orders and other documents and reports to determine aircraft weight and balance, fuel supply, route, schedule, and mechanical reliability.
  • Maintain the ability to travel to CONUS and OCONUS sites.
  • Conduct most work on-site at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland, with domestic travel required for flight-test activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Manual launch and recovery experience and C-band operations experience.
  • Graduation from a full-length course of instruction at a recognized military test pilot school, such as USNTPS, USAFTPS, Empire, or EPNER.
  • Operational test or payload integration experience.
  • 500 hours of MQ-9 experience.
  • Project officer experience.
  • Adaptability, good communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
